Car and driver West of Ireland

I am now at last posting some of the photos i took on my present tour with Bill and Carolyn Bingham. I will post more as soon as i get a chance. The above photo is the restored Ross castle in Killarney which is open to the public and well worth a visit.
Adare Manor in the town of Adare was the home of the Earl of Dunraven. This was our first stop on our first day.
A jaunting car in the heart of Killarney town. These are the type of horse drawn vehicles used in the tour of the Gap of Dunloe and which Bill and Carolyn travelled in on their memorable journey on Thursday last.

On thursday night they attended the Liam O'Connor show in Killarney. Liam is known as the fastest fingers in the world and is a renowned accordion player and his show is superb and features music song and wonderful traditional dancing. The above photo was taken after the show and shows Carolyn and Bill with Liam.
Sitting on a low wall high above the Atlantic on our trip around the Iveragh peninsula, a journey known as "The Ring of Kerry." This photo was taken just outside Waterville at the head of the peninsula.
Another photo on the Ring with the Dingle peninsula in the background.
Torc Waterfall in the Killarney National Forest Park is really nice and the setting in the woods makes it special.
The wonderful beach at Inch on the Dingle peninsula. This photo was taken yesterday on our tour of the Dingle peninsula and you can see the Iveragh peninsula and Ring of Kerry in the background where we were yesterday.
The ancient beehive huts near Slea Head are a must to visit. Make sure that you look for Maura Houlihan's house which is just on your right hand side before you reach Slea Head. You will see Maura's old two storey house set above the road on your right.
Bill and Carolyn outside Maura's house at Slea Head. This house is five hundred years old. It has been added to as it was originally a single storey cottage. Maura is a wonderful lady, and just tell her Dave sent you. She charges a minimal two Euro for visit to her ancient huts. As they say..."Worth every penny"
Yesterday was a food festival day in Dingle and these lovely ladies had a stall and were barbecuing a variety of fish, which i sampled. Their efforts were for a noble cause, Breast Cancer Ireland. I has a mix of Mackerel, Tuna and Shark. This was my first time ever to eat shark and i must say that it was really nice. Well done ladies. I must add that there were some men there also working on the grills...well done lads.
Carolyn and Bill sitting on the bronze memorial to the great Dolphin Fungi who inhabits Dingle harbour and attracts thousands of visitors to Dingle every year. He is there now for well over twenty years and you can spend a most enjoyable hour speeding up and down the harbour in the boats after this wonderful entertainer.
Bill and Carolyn at the rear of Muckross house today. Note the lovely garden with its many lovely flowers.
The tour of Muckross house also includes a tour of the Muckross farms. These piglets were in their pen at one of the old farm cottages.
Inside one of the farm cottages where the woman of the house was baking her griddle bread on the open turf (peat) fire. You can sample this wonderful bread with a good coat of home made butter.
A view of the outside of the farmhouse.
Bill and Carolyn outside the largest of the cottages on the farm tour. This photo does not show just how large this house is. Also the old fashioned vice attached to the wooden counter.
Bill examining some of the implements on display in the old forge on the farm. Note the large bellows leaning against the wall behing Bill.

More photos to come.
