Jim and Loretta pictured together at Slea Head with the Blasket Islands in the background

Well satisfied after a hearty feed of fish and chips in Harrington's restaurant in Dingle. If you get to Dingle make sure you do not miss this great experience. Tell Eileen that Dave sent you.

Loretta at the harbour in Dingle.

Jim on the wonderful beach at Inch. This magnificent beach featured in the movie "Ryan's Daughter". If you have not seen this movie i would highly recommend that you watch it before visiting the Dingle area as many scenes from the movie were shot here.

There are many ancient beehive huts on the Dingle peninsula but i like these ones near Slea head which are owned by Maura Houlihan. The one pictured here is a very large structure and one which must have been a communal home as it consists of a number of huts linked together. Unfortunately the tops have been removed over the years. All of these types of  houses would have had rounded or dome like roofs like beehives. The unusual feature of these particular huts pictured here is that they have a souterrain, an undergound tunnel leading to an underground cavity where the occupants could hide if threatened. The entrance to the souterrain is covered with stone slabs, but they can be moved with care to expose the tunnel. Just make sure that you put the stones back in place when you have finished. I would not advise going down into them either as it could be dangerous.

High in the mountains at the Conor Pass.
