Veronica and Max In Ireland with Dovechauffeurdrive Holidays

This is not typical touring season but people come when they have the opportunity and my latest adventure was one in search of family history with a mother and son from California. Despite the fact that this is just few short days, it will nonetheless be memorable as the search for our roots is something that all of us find special.  My clients had spent a few days in Dublin prior to coming to Galway to meet up with me.
Above you see Veronica and Max arriving by bus in Galway today where i collected them at the bus station.

Our final destination today was to be Killarney as that was where one branch of the family came from in the Kerry region. The above picture was taken in Adare outside the Trinitarian Abbey.

The family grave is located in the grounds of Muckross Abbey on the shores of Lough Leane, one of Killarney's famous lakes. Here you see Max and Veronica beside the lake as we made our way through the grounds to the Abbey and cemetary.

A very special picture as Max and Veronica pose in the twilight beside the ancestral grave at the Abbey.

Veronica and Max in the fading light with the old Abbey in the background.

I took this picture of the Abbey and cemetary as we made our way back after our visit to the grave.
Our mission today was to find the grave, and this we did, despite the fact that the directions we had were a little bit sketchy. I think that, without my local knowledge of this area, it would have been very difficult for my companions to be as fortunate as we were today. They will now be able, in the future, to direct other family members to what is a very beautiful resting place in one of Ireland's most beautiful counties.

Tomorrow we continue our adventure with a trip to the majestic Dingle Peninsula.
