Glenveagh Castle near Letterkenny in Donegal. This estate and castle with its wonderful gardens are a treat, and a must, if you travel to Donegal.
Castlegrove House, where we spent two nights. This fine old house is ideal, if you want peace and quiet, and a dining room that will be hard to match. It is family run, and they really do work hard to make you feel at home.
The walled gardens at Glenveagh castle.
Glenveagh castle is situated on a very large estate with its own beautiful lake.
Some of the beautiful flowers in the walled garden.
This is the Daniel O'Donnell centre in Gweedore Donegal. Daniel is one of Ireland's most famous country singers, with world wide success to his credit. This centre displays many of his memorobilia, including his Golden and Silver discs.
Inside the centre, with photos of Daniel on display.
The entrance gateway to Markree Castle Hotel, where we are spending two nights. This is a genuine old castle, and i will be posting more information on it tomorrow.
Looks scary, doesn't it? If you really want to experience the real thing then this is the place to come and visit....and stay in.
The reception area in the castle, with the stairway to the upper rooms, illuminated by this magnificent stain glass window.
Our meal here at the castle this evening was really special, and so far i have nothing but praise for this place. Tomorrow we are to do a tour of the castle, and i will be reporting on that later.
This was another great day on our tour of the North West of Ireland.
