Powerscourt/Achill Island/ Knock/Letterkenny

Yesterday we left Powerscourt and the Ritz Carlton behind as we made our way to the West of Ireland and the remote and beautiful Achill Island. Below i have posted a few photos of this wonderful island.

The view of Minnaun mountain and the lovely beach at Keel as seen from our B&B the Stella Maris in Keel.

The Stella Maris, a really nice place to stay close to a magnificent beach with clear Atlantic waters and beautiful white sand. Achill is the place to visit if you want to escape from it all and enjoy the beauty of nature, great places to swim or surf,  and surroundings that will leave you breathless.

Another one of Achills secluded beaches at the foot of the mountains at Keem.

These sheep were perched high on the cliff edge above the rocky shores below.
The Curach, a traditional fishing canoe type boat which was , and still is, used by the fishermen on the West Coast of Ireland.

The Basilica at Knock which we visited today.
The apparition chapel at Knock with the beautiful white marble statues depicting the scene of actual vision.

Castlegrove House Hotel in Letterkenny where we will be staying for the next two nights. This is once again an ideal place to stay if you want peace ad quiet in a rural setting. It also has a great reputation for its cuisine.Tonight we will be putting it to the test and i am really looking forward t that.
