Gougane Barra with the Mc Carthy's April 2015

Today we made our way to Gougane Barra in the heart of the Cork mountains. Gougane Barra is located in the heart of a ice age mountain gorge. The river Lee, which runs through the heart of Cork city, a city founded by St Finbar, who was the first Bishop of Cork city.
Garrett has a friend back home who is related to the famous Quill family in this area. The Quill's are famous for their involvement in the woolen trade, with wonderful shops in Killarney and surrounding areas. If you want quality in woolen garments, make sure to visit the Quill shops, where you will not go wrong on either price or quality. If you mention my name there, it will not do any harm. Garrett and Eileen already had their shopping done there yesterday, with Eileen buying a selection of sweaters, and Garrett buying his lovely grandfather shirts.
Padraig Quill lives in Ballingeary quiet close to Gougane Barra. Here we have Garrett sitting on the wall outside Padraig's lovely home.

This unusual building at Padraig's home is actually a most unique barbecue, designed by Padraig's local pals.
Garrett and Eileen, enjoying the beautiful sunshine at Gougane Barra.
It was here in Gougane Barra that St Finbar set up his monastic settlement. Here we have Garrett and Eileen inside the ancient buildings, with the old monks cells in the background.
Pictured inside the tiny church in Gougane Barra.Once again today we enjoyed glorious weather and our visit to Gougane Barra was very special.
Tomorrow we move on from Killarney as we make our way North to Galway.
