Today we decided to split our group, as some wanted to enjoy the Gap of Dunloe tour, and the others, to remain with me to enjoy some of the local Killarney area. Bill and Edie felt a need to slow down a little, and the Gap tour might be a little to much for them. In the picture above we have, from the left, Edie, Bill, Mike,
Brianna, and Christie waiting to board their bus in Killarney. The Gap group all set and ready to go.
Bill and Edie remained with me, and our first port of call was St Mary's Cathedral in Killarney.
Edie and Bill, pictured inside this wonderful Cathedral in front of the main altar. The construction of this fine church commenced prior to the famine in 1845.
Now we began our journey into the Killarney National Forest Park. We met this lovely little horse carrying an elderly old man in what looked like a very home made cart on the road to Ladies View.
This is quiet a dangerous road with many very dangerous bends.
The view from Ladies View is stunning, and it was here that Queen Victoria pronounced it to be " The most beautiful view in the Kingdom."
Another picture of Edie and Bill at Ladies View.
Our next destination was Muckross House, that magnificent stately home where Queen Victoria stayed during her visit.
The Gardens here are beautiful, and here we have Edie and Bill enjoying a walk through these gardens.
Another lovely picture in the garden.
On leaving Muckross House, we now had to make our way to Ross Castle, where we would be meeting up again with the rest of our party, as they arrived back in their boats on the final leg of their Gap of Dunloe tour.
Edie and Bill on the other hand, had loved our trip to Ladies View and Muckross House, so everybody ended up with plenty of stories to share.
Tonight we are set to enjoy another Irish dance and music show in Killarney.
