Galways lovely cathedral, built on the site of the old English Jail.
Galway city is where i was born and reared and for me it is the nicest city in Ireland. It is small and compact, and the city centre, where it all happens, is so easy to navigate with no need for any cabs or transport of any kind. There are plenty of hotels close to the city centre, and it does make life easy if you base yourself there. It has a great selection of fine restaurants and pubs, providing the best of entertainment for young and old. It is a great base for touring Connemara, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Aran islands.
