Shannon airport and chauffeurdriven tour.

Dorothy and Joanne arrived at Shannon airport early this morning to begin an eight day tour with me. Their friend, Rita, had recommended me to them, as she has traveled with me on a number of occasions, and eventhough the ladies were tired, we made a good start.
We did have a bit of a scare when the ladies were confronted by the police and taken aside for questioning, but after i had made a couple of urgent phone calls to some high profile friends of mine, they were allowed to go. I think that they had annoyed the police by pointing out that their car was parked in a bus lane, and that they should know better.
We did take a tour of Galway city before i left them at their hotel for a rest, and here they are, pictured at the famous Lynch window in the city center. It was from this window that the town magistrate, Lynch, hung his own son after he had sentenced him to death for a murder.
This church is actually the oldest building in Galway city, and is the famous St Nicholas's Cathedral. It was in this church that a final mass was said for Christopher Columbus and his crew before they set sail for the New World on their fateful voyage in the Sancta Maria. It is a very beautiful church, and a must to visit if your get to Galway.
