What a beautiful day it was today for our visit to the Cliffs of Moher. We were all out in our shorts to stay cool, but the air was good and we had a great time here.
We also visited the famous Lisdoonvara, the town renowned down through the ages for its matchmaking. It was here that the farmers would congregate after the harvest in September in their search for a wife, and of course the ladies, who were looking for a husband, would also make their way here. Many men traveled from overseas, especially the USA, in the hope of finding a suitable wife. The matchmakers would be there to assist them in their search and their job was to pair people off, after interviewing them first of all.
Judging by the picture above, this couple look happy enough with their choice.
I was only helping my friends out here, and before i knew it, somebody had me paired off with this lovely young lady (pictured with me above).I can only hope that my wife does not see this. The sun can do funny things to your head.
St Brigid is the patroness of Ireland, and here we have Paul and Nancy, seated on the wall at Brigid's holy well, close to the Cliffs of Moher.
We passed through the lovely town of Adare on our way south to Killarney. This is a most popular town, and famous for its thatched cottages. Paul and Nancy enjoyed our visit here, as you can see in the picture below.
Nancy and Paul, having a well earned break, in the grill bar at the Killarney Plaza, where they are staying during their visit to Killarney.
We did have some time to take in some of the local sights in Killarney before we called it a day. Here we have Paul and Nancy, sitting on a rock, enjoying the sunshine at Ladies View, high above the Lakes of Killarney.
This was another great day for all and we could not have asked for more.
Tomorrow we are off to the Gap of Dunloe, another magical day in the south west of Ireland.
