Today we left Galway for Connemara, and our first stop there today was the wonderful Ashford castle in Cong county Mayo.
Paul and Nancy, pictured in the grounds of Ashford, with the castle in the background. The weather today was gorgeous and i think that my friends will be returning home with lovely sun tans.
Pictured outside the entrance to the castle with this fine Irish Wolfhound.
As the dog was getting a little restless, i had to be called in to calm him down.
Paul and Nancy, in the gardens at the rear of the castle.
A view of the Corrib lake from the gardens, showing some of the reputed 365 islands.
Paul and Nancy, pictured with the bronze memorial of John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara, commemorating "The Quiet Man" movie. (John and Maureen are on the left.)
I took this picture as we passed through the Maam valley. Note the old tiny ruined cottage in the background. Hard to believe that this once housed a whole family.
High in the hills overlooking the island dotted Lough Corrib.
You cannot pass through Connemara without being greeted by wandering sheep.
Here we have Paul and Nancy, pictured with the famous Dun Guaire Castle in the background after we finally reached out destination in Kinvara today.
Fallon's B&B in the centre of the town, where they are staying tonight.
This was a really wonderful day, and we could not have been in a nicer place in the glorious sunshine.
Tomorrow we are promised more of the same as we make our way to the Cliffs of Moher, and finally on to Killarney later.
Nancy and Paul send their regards to everybody at home, and to their special friends James and Liz,who recommended me to them.
Thank you James and Liz, for sending me such a lovely couple.
