As you can see here, the morning was dull and overcast, as my pals posed at Ladies View, with the lakes of Killarney in the valley below.
Dean and Linda at Ladies View, with this really old oak tree in the background.
The beach at Inch on the Dingle peninsula, featured in the movie "Ryan's Daughter", which starred Robert Mitchum and Sarah Myles, and under normal circumstances, makes for a lovely setting for a picture, but on this morning the light was very poor.
From the left here, we have Dean, Linda, Barbara, and Gary.
One of the highlights of today was the visit to the beehive huts, near Slea Head, where everybody had the opportunity to cuddle a lamb. Here we have Barbara, obviously delighted with herself ,as she holds this cute little fellow in her arms. Linda could not resist the opportunity to join Barbara.
Now it was Dean's moment, and what a lovely picture for them to look at again, when they look back at their time in Ireland, and in Dingle, as they review their Irish adventure in the future.
Gary and Barbara also have this lovely photo to share with family and friends.
After enjoying their time with the lambs, it was time to visit the ancient beehive huts, ancient dwellings, inhabited by the farmers and fishermen of old.
Here we are grouped inside this was a communal beehive, which unfortunately had been partially destroyed as people in the past did not value these homes, and stripped the circular domed roofs off, and used the stone for other purposes. All that remains of this one is the lower walls.
We spent time also in the Blasket Island heritage center beyond Slea, and here my group are posing with this currach, the traditional fishing boat, used by the fishermen on the west coast of Ireland. They consist of a very light timber frame, covered in canvas, and coated with pitch to waterproof them.
Posing together near Dunquin. From the left, Linda, Dean, Gary and Barbara.
This was a really nice day together, despite the weather, our first poor weather day, so really we cannot complain. This lovely group had no complaint, and how nice it is to tour with such people.
Tomorrow we are off to the Blarney Castle, where everybody will have the opportunity to kiss the famous Blarney stone, and receive the "Gift of the Gab", something you will notice i am sure when they get back home to the USA.
We also will be visiting the Jameson Distillery in Midleton, so they are all going to look forward to the sampling session there.
Make sure to come along.
