A picture from our visit to the Old Head of the Lusitania heritage site. The ship lies some twenty miles offshore here.
My friends waiting impatiently to enter the Jameson Distillery in Midleton where i think they expected to get all the free booze they could drink. I have no idea where they got that notion.
Safely inside at last.
A great picture of these two barrels.
Having got all the free booze available, which was very little, we moved on to Cove, that harbour town at the mouth of the River Lee in Cork from where most of our emigrants departed in the famine period and for many years after. The liners still come in here, but now they are cruise liners.
Standing and sitting around the statues of Annie Moore and her two young brothers at the heritage center in Cove. These were the first people to be registered at Ellis Island in 1892.
This fine liner was visiting on the same day as we were, and i think this made a fine picture.
Mac and George are both Austin Healey fanatics and could not resist examining this fine old Bentley,
Last night we dined in the High Tide restaurant in Kinsale. It was my first time there and i found it nice, but i think my choice could have been better.
All of us, bar George, had langoustine and oven roasted beef, George had the Calamari and said that it was very nice.
Susan and George sharing a chocolate mousse.
Mac and Paula enjoying a dessert. Paula actually did give him a bit.
The Kinsale Hotel, where we stayed for two nights. It is now under new management,, and i believe it is showing improvement already. The location is really nice, and it is in a quiet spot outside the town.
Mac and Paula, standing on the patio at the rear of our hotel, with Oysterhaven Bay in the background.
George and Susan, all lovey dovey on the patio.
Tomorro we head for Dublin, where our tour ends, as they fly out on Sunday morning.
I left them in Bunratty today where tonight they are celebrating at a medieval banquet in Bunratty castle.
This was a really lovely happy and friendly tour with two wonderful couples, and i will truly miss them when i have to part with them tomorrow. I hope that we can stay in touch.
Thank you sincerely Mac and Paula and Susan and George. God keep you all safe ans well. Remember, never to forget Tony Tony.
