Kerry and the Gap of Dunlo

Special friends of mine on the Ring of Kerry with the Lakes of Killarney in the background.

These are the series of lakes you travel along on the final leg of your journey through the Gap of Dunlo. The Gap itself is through the mountains in the background on the left.

Please Note: This journey should not be undertaken by you yourself in your car as the roads are treacherous and extremely narrow and dangerous. People boasting about having done it themselves are being most irresponsible as they are not only a danger to themselves and their passengers, but also to the horses and carriages with their passengers, who earn their livelihood from these journeys. I am a professional driver and never risk the safety of my passengers or of the rightful users of these roads. I always employ Dero's Tours for this.

Today my group are off to the Gap of Dunlo in County Kerry. This is a journey that begins and ends in the heart of Killarney. You are taken by coach to Kate Kearney's Cottage at the mouth of the Gap where you are then transferred to the horse drawn jaunting cars. These take you up through the narrow winding mountain roads to the Gap at the top. The views are stunning all the way up as you are surrounded by steep mountains on either side. You pass a series of magical mountain lakes all the way along. The descent from the top is breath-taking as once gain the views are awesome. Finally you reach the lakes of Killarney where you have refreshments at Lord Brandon's Cottage before boarding your boats for the final leg of your journey. Now you travel down through a series of glacial lakes to your final destination on Lough Leane at Ross Castle in Killarney.

This tour is not to be missed and you can make your travel arrangements with Dero's Tour's right in the heart of Killarney close to the Plaza Hotel. I find them the best as they manage to whole journey for you. You start and finish your tour with them right here in the centre of Killarney
.
The whole journey takes virtually a full day as you start out at 10:30 am and get back at approx. 4:00pm.

I appear to be having some difficulty with my Blog and Web-site provider and am hoping that this will clear up but if i suddenly disappear i hope you understand that it is not my fault and i will get back on as soon as i can.Hopefully this will clear up itself soon.
