One of the many glacial lakes in Connemara with the Mammturk mountains in the background.
The Summer festival of horse racing in Galway is one of the real highlights of the year in this wonderful City of the Tribes. It features seven days of flat and steeplechase racing and attracts hundreds of thousands of people to the city every year. If you are interested in horse racing you could not come to a better place and not only enjoy the horses but the whole atmosphere that grips this city for the week. The nightly entertainment is non-stop and the after racing partying is endless.
In the meantime the Olympics is gathering momentum and eventhough we have not won any medals yet we are hopeful. Our yachtswoman is leading in her category and looks like bringing us home a gold and our boxers are all going well. Our superstar female boxer, Katie Taylor, does not begin her campaign until next Sunday but it will be a real upset if she does not win the gold as she is European and world champion and a magnificent fighter and a real credit to her country. Keep and eye out for Katie.
I would love to have good news on the weather front but the rain is still with us again today and this has been a really disappointing Summer so far. Maybe those who have left their visit to us until later are the lucky ones this year. I have a very busy time coming up and i am hoping for a real improvement. Give me a call if you are thinking about coming our way.
Finally, chickens sheltering under a tree. City folk do not know what they are missing, do they?
