Gap of Dunloe and Killarney Karen Chalker May 2014

Karen and Bill pictured at one of the lakes in the Gap of Dunloe. This is a very special place, but not one to drive through yourself as it is dangerous to both yourself and to the horse drawn buggies. To really enjoy this place book a trip, which incorporates the buggie ride through the Gap, with the trip down through the lakes of Killarney in the open boats. It is a tour well worth the money and can be booked through Dero's tours in the main street in Killarney.
This mother is very protective towards her baby lamb. Beware.

Here we have Ralph and Trinity, with Bill sitting on a rock by a lovely mirror like lake.
Trinity, with a small mountain stream in the background.
One of the buggies, carrying their passengers through the narrow mountain. This was a gorge carved through the mountains by a giant glacier during the ice age.
This Sika deer was enjoying a snack by the roadside as we passed.
One of the horses, waiting to be harnessed up to his buggy.
A beautiful old thatched cottage at the entrance to the Gap.
Mike, Ralph and Karen pictured inside the wonderful cathedral in Killarney.
The farm house tour on the Muckross House estate is one of my own favorites,as i do love animals, and of my own links with the not too distant past, which i am reminded of here.
I was standing on a tiny bridge on the grounds of Ross Castle in Killarney when this small fishing boat passed underneath. It looks like the dog enjoys the fishing just as much as his master.
The magnificent rhododendrons in the grounds of Muckross house are in full bloom right now.
