Today we visited the harbour town of Cove, at the mouth of the river Lee in Cork. The photo above was taken inside the Cove Heritage centre, which was the terminal at the port through so many emigrants passed as they began their journey to the New World. The display of flags shows the various countries to which these emigrants emigrated to.
Here we have Barry, Lynn, and Rich with the manager of the centre, Jack, giving them an introductory brief on what they will encounter during this self guided tour of the centre.
All together again with Rich at the back, Cindy Barry and Lynn with the magnificent Cove cathedral in the background.
We returned to Kinsale after spending some time in Cove and then spent time at the famous Charles Fort which guarded the harbour in Cove.
Here, once again, we have the full party inside the fort with the commanders house in the background.
This photo shows the main entrance to the fort from the inside.
This picture shows the entrance from outside.
The weather was not great today, cold with a lot of drizzly rain. No wonder Lynn decided that a pint of Guinness might brighten things up a little. This photo was taken in Jim Edwards pub in the heart of Kinsale where we enjoyed a lovely meal tonight.
