My group had overnighted in Kinvara last night, and today we were up and away on our journey into the Burren of County Clare, and on our way to the Cliffs of Moher. Our first stop was at Corcomroe Abbey, an abbey dating back to the twelve hundreds, and located just on the edge of the Burren, about six miles from Kinvara. Here we have my pals, in the early morning fog, a fog generated by the unusual high temperatures for this time of the year. The day was to become really sunny ,and warm, and a magnificent day for what lay ahead.
Pictured inside the abbey, from the left, Jim and Barbara, Marie and John, and Rosemary and Ted.
Our next stop was in Lisdoonvarna, a town famous for it's matchmaking, something akin to the Lonely Hearts organizations you find online today. Here we all are seated in the town square with the statues of the Lisdoonvarna musicians behind us.
No wonder Ireland is so clean and tidy. This sign was on one of the waste disposal bins in the town square.
Here we have a photo of one of the most famous matchmaking pubs in Lisdoonvara. Anybody looking for a husband or wife?
What a gorgeous day it was at the cliffs today, and how happy my group look in this photo.
This photo shows clearly the heat haze rising from the ocean far below at the Cliffs this morning.
Si Bridget is the patroness of Ireland and one of her holy wells is located close to the Cliffs. Many people come here to pray when in need.
Pictured together in their hotel, the lovely Killarney Plaza, located right in the heart of the town.
Tonight our big treat was the Celtic Steps show at the racecourse in Killarney, and here are my happy pals once again, seated bright and early, to make sure we got great seats for what is a really wonderful show, and featuring all that is so magical about Irish music, song, and dance.
People on their feet at the finale of the show tonight,
All happy and smiling at the end of tonight's great show and pictured here with, on the left, David Rea, the show's host and compere, and (hiding in the background), Ted, Rosemary, Marie, Barbara, Jim and John. A really great day, and night, was had by all.
