Today was a trip to the Gap of Dunloe, a journey through an ancient road. A road through a narrow gap in the Kerry mountains, a gap carved by an huge glacier during the ice age. This journey is best made in the horse drawn cars manned by the Killarney jarvies, local men with a great tradition in this trade.
The rock strewn walls of the gap are awesome and there are many lovely glacial lakes along the way, as you can see in this picture above.
My happy gang as they prepared for their journey to Kate Kearney's cottage where their journey proper begins.
The final leg of this journey is a boat ride down through the lakes of Killarney to their journey's end at Ross castle on the shores of Lough Laune.
A well earned meal tonight in a great Italian restaurant, Robertino's, in High Street tonight. The photographer (me as it turned out) made a bit of a mess of this one. Even the food is missing.
Tomorrow we head for Dingle.
