This old ruined house stands overlooking the Blasket Islands at Slea head on the Dingle peninsula. As i pass, i always visualise a mother or a wife , looking out to sea on a stormy evening, awaiting the return of a son or a husband. These people were fisherfolk, and sheepfarmers, and many of the men were drowned at sea, as the waters in this region are extremely dangerous.

I was born and reared on the western side of this beautiful country, and i have a lot to tell you, which only a native can know, and which you will never learn doing it on your own.

The climate in the west of Ireland, benefits from having the Gulf stream all along its coastline, and here you can see some of the beautiful colourful flowers that you might expect to find in more tropical regions. The waters here are also really lovely to swim in, but make sure you only swim where you see the blue flag of safety.
