Grant to Killarney July 2018

This morning we left Kinvara behind as we began our journey to the south west of Ireland, and the lovely town of Killarney. Killarney is a wonderful base for touring the south western peninsulas, the Iveragh peninsula, better known as the Ring of Kerry, and especially the Dingle peninsula, which is my own personal favourite. You can also cover the Beara peninsula from Killarney, and the Gap of Dunloe, so you will not be short of wonderful places to visit in this region. It is also a region where it might be wiser, and more relaxing for you, to have your own private driver.
Our first stop today was in, what is accepted as one of Ireland's most beautiful towns, the town of Adare. In the picture above, we have Jim and Ilene, posing, with the beautiful old Tridentine church, in the background, in the center of the town.
Adare if famous for its old thatched cottages in the main street.

Then it was on to Killarney, and our hotel, the lovely Killarney Plaza, which is located right in the heart of the town.
After checking Jim and Ilene in to their hotel, we off to take in the most beautiful part of the Ring of Kerry, the drive to Ladies View, and Moll's Gap, at the mountain top. On our way there we stopped off at Torc Waterfall, which today was actually a little disappointing due to our recent drought, which left the waterfall a little short of water.

Then it was on to Ladies View, considered by many to be one of Ireland's most beautiful views, with  the valley below, and the lakes of Killarney stretching all the way back to the town of Killarney. The picture above is of a group of young students from the USA, who were visiting Ireland as part of a youth choir, and who were singing their way around our beautiful country.

If you fancy driving the Ring, remember you will be encountering places like in this picture above.
Finally we made our way to the famous Muckross House on the outside of Killarney town, where Queen Victoria stayed during her visit to Killarney back in the eighteen hundreds.
Our weather today was really lovely once again, and not uncomfortably hot as in recent times, but fresh and most pleasant, a great day all in all.
Maybe you would like to see this for yourself? You can call me anytime.
