Killarney in the open boats. Some people try to drive the road part, which is highly dangerous, and which means that you miss the ride down through the beautiful lakes. If you drive, not only are you risking your own life and the life of your passengers, but also the lives of other people traveling in the other side cars.
All set and ready to go after boarding their buggy at Kate Kearney's cottage. From the left, we have, Susan, George, horse expert and guide Mac, and and his guide Paula.
A view of one of the roadside lakes and of the narrow road, gives you an idea of why i warn you against driving this Gap road.
Another view of the road to the Gap at the top.
Susan and Paula, waiting to board their boat at the end of the buggy journey.
Here we have Susan, all rigged out in her life jacket, as they begin their journey down through the lakes.
There are a number of lakes to be navigated as you travel back to the largest one, Lough Laune, at the end of this journey.
The rugged landscape is wild and beautiful, and the air so fresh and clean.
Today the lakes were like giant mirrors reflecting the surrounding mountains.
Paula was not about to miss these great photo ops.
Back on dry land once again at the magnificent restored Ross Castle, after the experience of a lifetime, from the left, George, the photographer, Susan, his advisor, Paula, and Mac.
A great day was had by all.
Tonight we celebrate Mexico's big day with a meal in Casita Mexicana, my favourite Mexican restaurant, right in the heart of Killarney town. More pics to follow.
Celebrating the Mexican way on their special day
One empty place at this table? Well someone had to take the picture, and it fell to me. I had my meal in sight at all times though, AND IT WAS NICE. Everybody enjoyed it, so if you are in Killarney i would recommend a visit to Casita Mexicana.
