Vaillancourt in Dingle in the sun.

This morning, Friday, we left Killarney behind, as we began our journey to the magnificent Dingle peninsula. Our first stop was at the Killarney Golf club, which is located on the shores of Lough Laune.
Here we have the Vaillancourt family, from the left, Bill, Deborah, Traci and Brian, with the lake and the Kerry mountains in the background.
Then it was on to the peninsula, and the beach at Inch, which was where one of the scenes in Ryan's Daughter was filmed, that movie which starred Robert Mitchum. Worth a watch, if you have not seen it.
One of my special visits on this tour, is at the Beehive huts near Slea Head, where you can actually feed a baby lamb, if that is to your liking. Here we have Allison holding and feeding her baby lamb. Both of them look like they are loving it all. Like to feed a lamb?

Traci found her own one, as you can see here.
The Beehive huts are ancient stone dwellings which were home to ancient farmers and fishermen, and of course, the monks of old, as seen recently in Star Wars on the Skellig Islands.
I cuddled this ram myself ,but unfortunately the photo did not come out.
If you are from Mass. USA, you may well have heard of the famous Blasket Islands off the coast at Slea Head on the Dingle peninsula. It was from these islands that the inhabitants finally departed, before emigrating, and joining their relations in Hungry Hill, Springfield Mass. back in the mid nineteen hundreds, as life became just too hard for them to stay any longer.
Here we have, from the left, Bill ,Deborah,Traci, Allison and Brian, sitting on the wall at Slea Head, with the Blasket Islands in the background.

Next on the program for Saturday, is, the wonderful Gap of Dunloe.
Make sure to join us on that one.
